*Research great locations and times for bird photography…
Check

*Make travel reservations and spend lots of money for airplane tickets, rental cars, hotels and lodging…
Check

*Fly for six hours to get to a destination full of birds…
Check

*Go over all the gear, make sure batteries are charged, cards are formatted, backups are in the bag…

*Get up at Zero Dark Thirty to drive to bird blinds…
Check

*Spend seven plus hours daily (for a week) in the bird blind, waiting for birds…

*Find PERFECT backgrounds and perches and then wait for the birds to come to those perfect backgrounds and perches…
Check

*Apply all the skill you have to nail that decisive moment when the bird finally drops into the background for a split second, and you get the shot…
Check

*Go back to hotel to download cards, recharge camera batteries and look at the day’s images…
Check

*Share a picture to social media to try to add some beauty to an increasingly ugly world…
Check

*Eat an energy bar, get a few hours sleep before setting out to do it all again the next day…

  1. And that is why you have these types of shots and I probably never will unfortunately. I did get a blind but it will be set up in my yard. I will just have to enjoy your results and continue to be inspired to do more.

  2. LOL. I went into bird photography because i thought birdwatching was just too easy. now i get to go out with 40 pounds on my back for a similar experience. except it lasts longer.
