World Photo Day originates from the invention of the Daguerreotype, a photographic process developed by Frenchmen Louis Daguerre and Joseph Nicephore Niepce in 1837.
August 19 is observed as World Photography Day, in the hopes that it will inspire photographers across the planet to share a single photo with a simple purpose: to share their world with the world.
So I am cheating a little – it’s one photo of nine photos – but nevertheless, Happy #WorldPhotographyDay anyway! I celebrate it with a picture of the poster created for my first ever one-man gallery show from a long time ago. Slot canyons. I was very proud back then of the chance to show my work. I hope everyone seeing this is actively engaged in showing their work. As photographers – showing others what we’ve captured is an essential task. Show your work everywhere – to everyone. It’s an important gift that you can offer the world.
