There have been lots of rumors floating around about Olympus. I am not now, nor have I ever been, a fan of the rumor sites. They trade in click-bait. It is unfortunate that they have so much sway.
So I wanted to tell you that I have first-hand knowledge of and access to, Olympus’ plans regarding their camera division. This is not rumor. As an Olympus Visionary I am privy to things the rumor sites can only guess about. Normally, I am not permitted to discuss these things, but today, I have a green light to do so.
Here’s the deal, Olympus is not planning on giving up. Their cameras are (thankfully) going to be around for a while.
While the current landscape for ALL Japanese camera makers is difficult, nobody is planning to throw in the towel.
The Olympus team has confirmed to me that they have no plans to close their imaging business or consider sale of their business at this time. They’ve reinforced they’re actively working on future technology development – and they’ve already announced the development of the highly sought after M.Zuiko 150-400mm F4.5 TC1.25x IS PRO handheld super telephoto lens on schedule to launch next year. This and the other future products on their publicly released roadmap are part of their continued plans to grow Olympus’ share of the photography market.
You are of course free to believe whatever story you like, but now at least you’ve heard something that is OFFICIAL and from someone with FIRST-HAND knowledge of ACTUAL FACTS.
I just wanted to pass this on in case you have been duped into believing the rumors. Thanks for reading.
